Krabi is one of Thailand’s most popular beach resorts, boasting a wide selection of accommodation options. It is popular with backpackers looking for budget rooms, families looking for good facilities and people looking to splash out on a bit of luxury.
A number of the world’s best hotel chains have established themselves here and there are also many independent hotels offering the best in Thai service and hospitality.
Many of the top hotels have deals which cannot be found in Europe, especially in low season, and the facilities at many of the resorts include spas, fitness centres, coffee shops, business lounges, poolside terraces and fully-furnished suites. Most are located on the beach although there are a few hotels in Krabi Town itself.
The Sheraton and Best Western are very popular with visitors and offer affordable luxury for the whole family. For something even more special, the Krabi Thai Village Resort on Ao Nang offers the ultimate in luxury. This five-star beach resort boasts spas, restaurants, traditional Thai style bungalows and exceptional service.
If your budget does not stretch to the top-end hotels, you will also find a number of guest houses and mid-range establishments on all beaches offering affordable alternatives.
Ao Nang is the main tourist centre of Krabi with the most choice for accommodation covering all budgets and styles. Most of the entertainment options are located on the beachfront road and it is around this area where the highest concentration of hotels can be found.
There are a number of private resorts here catering to those looking for luxury, and equally there are a number of guest houses offering basic accommodation for a fraction of the price. Ao Nang is perfect for families with young children.
Railay Beach and Tonsai Bay are very popular with backpackers and therefore there are a large number of cheap hostels and guest houses available. They have a small community feel with beautiful beaches and good nightlife options. There are some larger hotels here as well, but the infrastructure is centred on young travellers.
Klong Muang is an ideal place to escape the crowds. Most of the accommodation is upmarket and expensive, with private resorts offering excellent facilities and exclusive beaches.
Krabi Town isn’t popular among tourists as it is a small market town, bustling with locals getting on with their daily lives. While it is a great place to visit to experience authentic Thai cuisine, the accommodation options here are less appealing that those at the beaches. There are, however, a small number of hotels and guest houses available.
