This bustling seaside town along the Gulf of Thailand has been a popular travel destination for decades. Even the Thai monarchy has built their winter palaces in Hua Hin, and both Thais and foreign visitors regularly flock here to enjoy the wide range of accommodation, restaurants and entertainment venues. Visitors can enjoy five-star luxury right on the beach or modest guest houses in the heart of the town.
The Chiva-Som International Health Resort is one of the nicest health-centred resorts in the region. The spacious grounds cover seven acres of tropical gardens that spill onto the beach. In addition to excellent amenities, this resort is renowned for its holistic health facilities.
The Hilton Resort and Spa is a popular upscale choice if you want to stay right in the heart of Hua Hin. It's a towering hotel, meaning excellent views from the rooms and the convenience of being able to walk everywhere in town. The Marriot Resort and Spa is another good top-end choice if you prefer to be outside of town. The grounds and service are extraordinary, and free shuttles regularly whisk guests into Hua Hin.
Although it was built in 1922, the Sofitel Centara Grand Resort remains a popular choice in Hua Hin for its classy décor and unequaled sense of style. Three stunning outdoor pools and a new Spa Health Club merge timeless style with the best modern amenities.
The central area of Hua Hin is where most of the accommodation is concentrated. There are dozens of budget and mid-range hotels and guest houses to choose from, offering the advantage of lower rooms rates than those right on the beach. You can also walk everywhere in town for dining, drinking and shopping if you stay in the central area.
Hua Hin's main road, Damnoenkasem, runs from the centre of town to the sea. There are lots of guest houses and small hotels located along this bustling strip as well as down the quieter side lanes. The area around the old fishing pier is another fun area to stay. There are only budget guest houses and hotels here, but the atmosphere is authentic Thai.
The beachfront of Hua Hin is where the five-star hotels have staked their claims. Most of these hotels are upscale, but have the distinct advantage of being literally on the sand. It's still an easy walk into the centre of town from the beach, but you pay for the privilege of those amazing sea views.
