Exterior

The 3 story hotel comprises 330-bedrooms spread over two sections ? the Balalaika and the Crown Court. Both buildings of the hotel have sparkling swimming pools that are set in their own lush, landscaped garden, where guests can relax, unwind and momentarily experience the timelessness and calm of a bygone era.

Restaurant

Overlooking the beautiful landscaped gardens and swimming pool lies the Colony restaurant where breakfast is served daily. The spacious hotel restaurant has a warm feel with its embellished fine wood and old school charm. An international menu is on offer as well as a good selection of South African wines. The hotel has a second restaurant called the Bull Run situated right opposite the Johannesburg stock exchange and serves a good variety of meat dishes and an excellent wine menu.

Set in the heart of Sandton, in Johannesburg's prestigious northern suburbs, the Protea Balalaika Sandton is within easy reach of all business and entertainment centers. the hotel is a short 5 minute walk from Sandton City and is a mere 180 meters from the Sandton Convention Center. The hotel is a 30 to 40 minute drive from Johannesburg International Airport, although guests can take the new Gautrain direct to the airport which takes just over 15 minutes - this train station is just a round the corner from the hotel.

General

The Protea Balalaika is a great choice for guests wanting to be in the middle of Sandton but looking to feel like they are far from the centre of town. With its gardens and beautiful pool and sun bathing area it's a perfect hotel to relax in. The Oval Coffee Shop is located in the hotel lobby and offers a variety of light meals.
