Glasgow hotels

When it comes to accommodation, Glasgow boasts a wide variety of choices covering every taste and budget. There are many exclusive hotels located in prime positions throughout the city centre with the recently renovated Millennium Hotel on George Square being one of the very best. The Carlton George Hotel and the Glasgow Hilton are also among the top five in the city and all three are located very close to each other. These three are all very large and while boasting excellent service and varied facilities, are not as intimate as the Groucho Saint Jude's, which is one of the only boutique hotels within the city centre.

Other top class hotels include: the Thistle Glasgow, the Quality Central Hotel, the ultra modern Glasgow Marriott and the stylish ArtHouse Hotel. Top class establishments are not the only choice within the city, however, there is also a good range of mid-range hotels offering good value rooms and good facilities for those who are on a slightly stricter budget such as the Glasgow City Travelodge and the Holiday Inn Garden Court.

Charing Cross is another good location to stay if you want to be central. It is an excellent location for the main shopping and entertainment, being within walking distance from them both. Hotels in this area include The Premier Lodge, which boasts stunning views across the city, and the Theatre Hotel, which often has good deals on shows if you are staying there. The Old School House, Enterprize Hotel and Rennie Mackintosh Hotel can also be found here and are perfect for families as they are good value but still have excellent facilities. If your budget does not stretch as far as a hotel, Park Terrace is home to the Glasgow Youth Hostel and Glasgow Backpackers Hostel.

The West End is a lively area of town and often sees young groups on hen and stag nights stay here. The highly modern City Inn offers group discounts while the One Devonshire Gardens offers complete luxury. Many of the hotels can be found in the heart of the West End, which means that it will be a short walk home for anyone out late. The Hilton Grovesnor, Angus Hotel and Manor Park Hotel can also be found here.

Merchant City is close to the city centre and has its own selection of restaurants, bars and entertainment options. It is a sophisticated area to stay with opulent hotels and stylish guesthouses. One of the most popular places in the city to stay is Babbity Bowster, an award winning establishment which is not overly expensive and boasts a friendly, traditional ambience.

The south side of the city is not as popular as other areas as it is further away from all of the attractions, but with the abundance of transport and taxis, it is easier to get to and from your hotel. There are not as many top class hotels located here, but there are plenty of mid-range and budget options. It is perfect for those looking for a bit of peace and quiet and has many beautiful family run guesthouses.
