The lobby is large and is very elegant. There is a large staircase and a lounge leading off of it.
It is a traditional building and is one of Edinburgh's most distinguished hotels. It was originally built in 1903 as part of the old Caledonian railway station. It does have a wing which was built in later years.
There are two restaurants. One is slightly more formal decorated in soft pastels with delicate murals on the walls. The other restaurant is less formal and offers a wide variety of meals in relaxed surroundings. There is also an infomal wine bar which is open to the public and a smaller, intimate cocktail bar.
This hotel is centrally located on Prince's Street in the centre of Edinburgh. A fantastic location for this landmark hotel.
Many of the bedrooms have been renovated recently to a very high standard-these are now sold as superior rooms. The decor is beautiful and the bathroom's are marble. The standard rooms are more basic but are still in a fair condition. There is a view of Edinburgh Castle from some rooms.

As we strive to further enhance our guest's experience, the hotel's on-going refurbishment programme will be completed in the summer of 2012. During this time, access to the hotel will remain from the corner of Lothian Road and Rutland Street and guests can still enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner, served daily in the hotel's stunning Castle Suite. Afternoon Tea will also be served from 2pm to 5pm in the Castle Lounge, seven days a week. Please be aware that our LivingWell Health Club will be closed from 30th April to mid September. Furthermore, the Ocean Rooms Spa will be closed from 1st April, 2012. At this time, the hotel will not be able to offer guests car parking facilities.
