The hotel’s exterior is traditional and the hotel is accessed down a couple of small steps.
The breakfast room is located in the basement and has also recently been renovated. It now benefits from a dark wood floor and pale wood seating giving it a modern, trendy feel. No other meals are served here as some of the best restaurants are located on the hotel’s doorstep.
Some of the rooms are of a medium size whilst others are very large. Some of the bedrooms have been renovated but the plan is that they will all be done in the near future, but, in the meantime, the renovated rooms are decorated in a predominantly Bordeaux red colour scheme with pink and red splashed around the room and with light wood furniture giving it a fresh new look. The non-renovated rooms, which are in the majority, are still very functional and comfortable and not as trendy or colourful as the renovated rooms. All rooms are in good condition, as are the bathrooms.
This hotel consists of five historical buildings in the heart of old Amsterdam and is within walking distance of Dam square, the Royal Palace, and the Leidseplein. Amsterdam's famous shopping street, the Kalverstraat is close by as is the equally famous nightlife of the Rembrandtsplein and Leidseplein.
