Exterior

This is a lovely, traditional building, in keeping with its surrounds.

Lobby

The lobby is medium sized and welcoming and also incorporates a small bar area. The lobby leads straight into the lounge area.

Restaurant

The hotel serves breakfast only due to its prime location. The breakfast room is located on the lower ground floor and is tastefully decorated with a black and gold colour scheme; however, breakfast may also be taken in the beautiful lounge that leads off the lobby and which is decorated in a royal red colour, with fresh flowers, chandeliers and even a red and gold reading area. There is also a lovely conservatory where breakfast may be taken, as well as in the exquisite, large garden.

Rooms

The bedrooms are all very different and unique and offer some of the best accommodation of any 3 star hotel in Amsterdam. They are all influenced by various philosophers, hence the hotels name. An example is one room decorated with antiques, chandeliers and quotes painted on the walls, or the Asian style Confucius room decorated in purple and silver. All rooms are in very good condition and are very tastefully decorated with much attention to detail. The bathrooms are also in very good condition but consist mainly of showers only.

Location

This hotel has a lovely location in the heart of the city, on a small side street off the Overtoom. It is adjacent to the Vondel park and has many bars, restaurants and shops on its doorstep. It is also within walking distance of the Leidseplein, with its bars and restaurants and famous Holland Casino, the u shopping street of the PC Hoofsstraat, and the Van Gogh and Rijks Museum. It is a short tram ride away from Central Station - approx 12 mins by tram.
