Tel Aviv hotels

Tel Aviv is a relatively new settlement so most of the hotel infrastructure has been built in the last 50 years. The Mediterranean, especially along Ha-Yarkon Street, is overflowing with deluxe hotels overshadowing more modest, mid-range options. Tourists looking for a more historic atmosphere will find it in the inns of ancient Jaffa.

Tel Aviv has accommodation to suit every budget, most of which is grouped together on the same sea-facing thoroughfare. An advantage of the upmarket hotels is soundproofing as this area is lively into the early morning hours. Those looking for budget options would do well to search a block or two off of the main street.

Dan Hotel Tel Aviv is among the most luxurious hotels in the city. It boasts several restaurants and facilities that trump those of its neighbours. The best rooms offer views over the Mediterranean. The Hilton is especially popular with business travellers, while the Sheraton stands out for its contemporary amenities.

Ha-Yarkon Street follows the Mediterranean coastline and hosts Tel Aviv's upmarket resorts and five-star hotels. Guests staying here enjoy first-rate amenities and convenient access to the beach. Across the road, hotel prices drop dramatically, attracting those who crave a premium location but don't mind sacrificing the premium service. This is the epicentre of Tel Aviv's hotel industry.

Inland from the beach is the actual city centre, home to important sites like Rabin Square. Several mid-range hotels are located here, and guests have a variety of shopping and dining options to choose from. This is also the commercial district, which is suitable for business travellers.

Jaffa is the historic kernel of Tel Aviv, with roots that belittle the city's 19th century founding. It's a quaint area dotted with historic inns and gardens, especially popular with young couples. Many of the hotels here enjoy views over the sea.

Neve Tzedek is quiet and comfortable for visitors who prefer to stay out of earshot of the late-night parties in the city centre. Guests in this area often stay in hotels housed in quaint buildings from the early 1900s. There's a hint of the early Zionist movement still at work in the air here.

Florentine is situated in the southern reaches of Tel Aviv and entertains a funky, even Bohemian attitude. Further south, tourists will find a few hotels, but this district is just beginning to gain momentum in the tourism market and has relatively little to offer when it comes to services and facilities.
