Dublin - Ireland

Accommodation options in Dublin are numerous and varied. Many people visit the city to enjoy a weekend break and therefore are looking for something fairly central. There are many hotels located within the city centre, a short walk from sights, restaurants and bars. There are also a lot of hotels on the banks of the River Liffey and both north and south of the city centre.

Luxury or budget; there is plenty of choice for everyone. Some of the best hotels within the city include The Westbury, which is located right in the heart of Dublin and as well as an excellent location also boasts a wide range of facilities. The stunning and historic Clontarf Castle Hotel is located in Dublin's leafy northern suburbs, very close to the city centre, while the La Stampa Hotel & Spa is located in downtown Dublin and offers the ultimate pampering experience.

There are hotels dotted across the city and the surrounding areas, but some of the best places to stay include the Temple Bar district. This is a thriving commercial centre in the heart of the city and offers the ultimate party experience. It is very popular with stag and hen parties, but equally popular with culture buffs and those who have arrived to sightsee. There are many different places to stay, ranging from five-star lavish hotels to cheap bed and breakfasts offering only basic facilities.

Essex Street and its surrounding area is popular with those who are not on a tight budget. The street itself is home to one of the city's best and most famous hotel, The Clarence, which is owned by Irish super-group, U2. Other upmarket hotels in this area include: Blooms (styled with James Joyce type themes), the Central Hotel on South Great Georges Street, the Brooks, and the ultra stylish Morgan Hotel.

The Grafton Street area and districts of St Stephen's Green and Merrion Square offer a wide range of accommodation options. These are great areas for families as there are many mid-range hotels with good facilities but which are much cheaper than some of the city's other hotels. There are also many new hotels in this area offering stylish settings and ultra-modern facilities.

The northern part of the city boasts a number of historic hotels and castles. There are a number of quays along the northern banks of the river which have been developed and offer a range of hotels with views out along the river. There are also many bars and restaurants along the river.

Every area in Dublin, apart from the exclusive Essex Street, offers hotels, guest houses and travel lodges, ensuring that wherever you choose to stay there will be something to suit.
