Hanover has a good range of hotels, although the top ones can be somewhat similar owing to their aim of drawing in business types. The city regularly hosts big exhibitions, especially in the spring, when prices are greatly inflated and rooms need to be booked way ahead. Other than that, Hanover hotels are well appointed, generally have superb settings in the city centre and can be booked online.

The multitude of big exhibitions held at the mighty Expo Centre has seen Hanover build up a significant base of high quality hotels in an effort to attract powerful CEOs and the like. There are numerous five-star hotels to choose from including the main hotel chains and you can stay just about anywhere you choose owing to the superb transport network.

As well as Hilton, Sheraton and Novotel branches, there are many other luxury hotels where service, facilities and quality is assured. Keep a look out for Crowne Plaza, Kastens Hotel Luisenhof, and Hotel Königshof am Funkturmel.

The city centre of Hanover is the main place to stay and is split into many distinct hotel areas. Don't expect too much in the way of value for money in the town centre or the Altstadt district, however.

Areas in the city centre to head for include the Am Markt, in the heart of the old town (Altstadt); Limburgstrasse, a convenient street in the old town; Schlosswender Strasse, with its many elegant hotels; Hinueberstrasse, near the train station and pedestrianised zone; Friedrichswall, also near the Hauptbahnhof; Heinrichstrasse, near Eilenriede Park; Hindenburgstrasse, near Hanover Zoo; and Leisewitzstrasse, for the Expo Centre.

The Maschee district to the south of the city centre is also a popular area to be based. It is a lot more peaceful than then city centre and is near Lake Maschee and therefore ideal for families. Most hotels in this region are right by the lake, where you can take advantage of numerous outdoor activities. The hugely popular Maschseefest has live music and lots of food and goes off in this district every summer.

Popular hotel districts outside Hanover are Buchholz, Laatzen, Hainholz, List, Nordstadt, Wülfel, and Vahrenwald, and then there is the airport to the north of the city. The Holiday Inn Airport and the Maritim Hotel Airport are located on the airport grounds, and both come with superb facilities. The Hannover Ringhotel Ambiente Hotel is also close to the airport and is another good bet.
