Zell am See may not be a big town, and is certainly not one of the most visited areas in Austria; however, it still boasts a wide selection of accommodation to choose from. You will find top-class international hotels as well as cosy and intimate log cabins. There are luxury suits in exclusive resorts or family-run guesthouses, the choices are literally endless.

Most of the accommodation can be found within the town itself. It is here where you will find the best hotels such as the Tirolerhof, Hotel Sonnenhof, the Stadt Wien, or the centrally located Hotel Neue Post. The best rates for these hotels are usually found between February and April, the town's low season, although by booking in advance, good rates can usually be found.

All of the hotels mentioned above boast excellent facilities with heated pools, saunas, restaurants and top-class service. Other accommodation n the town centre includes self-catering apartments, bed and breakfasts, chalets and cabins. Good mid-range establishments include the Alpenrose, Landhaus Buchner, the Hubertus and Penzion Klothilde.

An assortment of all accommodation types can be found throughout the town. There is not one set area for five-star hotels; they are interspersed with bed and breakfasts, hostels and apartments. It is up to you whether you want to stay in the centre of town, where the best restaurants and nightlife are; nestled away in the mountains, or somewhere in between the two. Areas surrounding the lake are also popular and offer water sports right on the doorstep.

There is also the option to stay in Kaprun as ski passes are for both ski resorts and there is transport to and from Zell, which is a very short journey. Kaprun is not home to so many five-star luxurious establishments, but it does cater to those looking for mid-range hotels and apartments. There is a good selection of beautifully located hotels and guesthouses which are overlooked by the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Many families tend to stay here as the number of self-catering apartments is much higher than in Zell.
